2014 Infiniti Q60 Convertible Combines Seductive Coupe-Like Styling and Exhilarating Performance

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - The Infiniti Q60* Convertible remains one of the most seductive vehicles in its class in 2014. Created around the central idea that a luxury performance convertible should look equally inviting with its top up or down - and be equally enjoyable to drive sans roof or not - the Q60 Convertible combines grace and performance with signature Infiniti attention to detail.

Highly Seductive Styling Inside and Out
Based on the highly popular Infiniti Q60 Coupe, the Q60 Convertible offers a model-exclusive design from the A-pillars back, including a unique body structure and a wider rear track. Its athletic, well-proportioned coupe-like styling, flowing front fenders, wave-like hood, and signature Infiniti double-arch grille offer an uncommon presence that is only enhanced when the exclusive three-piece power hardtop retracts with one-button operation securely into the trunk.

With the top up, the Q60 Convertible maintains its classic Infiniti Q60 Coupe-like silhouette through use of a special three-piece "clamshell" retractable hardtop, which allows for both a stylish shorter rear overhang and a low trunk lid. Signature Infiniti styling cues include L-shaped High-Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-functional xenon headlights. In the rear, the taillights are unique to the Q60 Convertible, incorporating an inner "circle of light" for added style. The chrome rear trunk finisher incorporates both an integrated high-mount stoplight and the small camera for the standard RearView Monitor system. The automatic top opening/closing sequence takes approximately 30 seconds from start to finish. The open/close switch is located on the centre console, just behind the transmission shifter lever.

For 2014, the Q60 Convertible is offered in six exterior colours: Malbec Black, Liquid Platinum, Graphite Shadow, Black Obsidian, Moonlight White, and an all-new Infiniti colour, Venetian Ruby.

The Q60 Convertible's inviting interior design combines sophistication, craftsmanship and thoughtfulness with unique, available systems. Every element is created to enhance the open-air driving experience, taking into consideration the typical challenges to fully enjoying open-air driving, such as added interior noise and turbulence, added heating and cooling system demand and even the fact that the seating surfaces can get hot in the sun or cool at night.

The driver-oriented cockpit features an Infiniti signature instrument panel design with Infiniti electroluminescent instrumentation with a white illumination colour scheme, integrated multi-function information drive computer display and signature analogue clock. The double hand-stitched leather-covered steering wheel is designed for maximum comfort and usability, with standard wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls.

Gloss Maple Accents is standard, and Red Stained Maple Wood is exclusive to the Monaco Red coloured interior leather. Leather-appointed seating is standard and is offered in three colours - Graphite (black), Wheat and Monaco Red. Climate-controlled 8-way power driver/8-way front passenger seats are standard.

The Q60 Convertible's long list of comfort and convenience features includes standard Infiniti Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition and an Adaptive Dual Zone Climate Control System air conditioning system that adjusts to provide optimal comfort with the top up or down. A 13-speaker Bose® Open Air Surround System featuring noise adaptive technology, including Bose®front seat personal speakers with AM/FM, 1CD/DVD reader with MP3 WMA compatibility, and audio auxiliary input is standard on the Q60 Convertible. It also features a USB connection port for iPod® interface and other compatible devices.

Other available Q60 Convertible features include standard Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System and the available Infiniti Navigation System, Streaming Audio via Bluetoothand touch screen.

Liberating Dynamic Performance
Like the Q60 Coupe, the Q60 Convertible's outstanding dynamic performance credentials start with a combination of its advanced FM platform and award-winning V6 engine. Every 2013 Q60 Convertible comes equipped with a standard 3.7-liter V6 engine with VVEL (for Variable Valve Event and Lift), rated at 328 horsepower and 360 Nm @ 5,200 rpm of torque. The VVEL system combines hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake side, helping to improve not only performance and response but also emissions and fuel efficiency (over a non-VVEL system).

The engine is mated to a choice of an electronically controlled 7-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, downshift rev matching, Drive Sport (DS) mode, Adaptive Shift Control (ASC).

The Q60 Convertible's responsive handling and ride performance is provided by its advanced FM (Front Mid-ship) platform design, which optimizes front/rear weight balance and creates a stable foundation for the 4-wheel independent suspension. The front suspension is an independent double-wishbone design, with a single pivot lower wishbone and a long upper link. The multi-link rear suspension separates the Dual Flow Path® shock absorbers and springs, locating the shock absorber inline with the wheel center. These designs help minimize alignment changes and reduce suspension friction for nimble handling and smooth riding characteristics.

Responsive steering is provided by a vehicle-speed-sensing system. Standard on all Q60 Convertibles is Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS). Braking performance is provided by standard 4-wheel vented discs with 4-channel, 4-sensor Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist.

An Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors and occupant classification sensor is standard, along with door-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags, front-seat mounted side-impact supplemental air bags and front seat Active Head Restraints. The rear seat includes fixed head restraints with rear Pop-up Roll Bars. The Q60 Convertible also features reinforced front side members, front pillars and body sills.

*Note to editors: Infiniti’s models will now simply be prefixed either by ‘Q’ for sedans, coupes and convertibles or ‘QX’ for crossover and SUVs. To communicate a logical model hierarchy, a two digit number will follow – the higher the number, the higher its place in the model range. Infiniti’s new nomenclature strategy will be implemented in logical stages within the existing product range, as new model year variants are introduced - the Infiniti QX70 (formerly Infiniti FX) was the first to feature the new badging in the Middle East.
